EclecticPond Theatre Company
Since August 1st, 2011 I have been working with a local theatre non-profit EclecticPond Theatre Company to help them market their productions and company. In the beginning, I was their photographer and web consultant. Starting May 7th, 2013 I transitioned to being a full-time company member in charge of their photography, website, and print design underneath the direction of co-founder and Artistic Director Thomas Cardwell. In my time with them, I have shot over 10,000 exposures, designed two iterations of their website, and produced graphics for approaching a dozen shows. The amount of work I have done for them already is staggering, and of such depth that only a few highlights can be shown here. To view a more exhaustive collection of their work, visit their site.
I donate so much time to this company because I am striving to find a way to make a better word, and I believe their goals in that regard are laudable and I want to see them succeed. Their mission statement doesn’t quite do their efforts justice, but the first paragraph of their vision comes close:
We aim to become one of the leading companies producing inventive and exciting adaptations of Shakespeare and other playwrights, enabling the works to become relevant and appealing to a new generation of audiences. Through these adaptations, both modern and classical, and a program of new writing, we aim to invigorate personal interest in theatre for young and old alike.
In the years since I have been working with them, I have already seen them make a difference in the still-developing Irvington district of Indianapolis, and seen them changing people’s lives and bringing together a community in a way I could never do myself holed up in my studio. If you’re in the central Indiana area, I recommend checking them out. The world needs more people like them.
