Chris Valites’ “Water” Gives Studio Nudes New Lease On Life

So, I remain a sucker for nudes in photography, despite my also being ruffled that so many times having someone naked is a shortcut to getting something viewed as art, whether the subject being naked actually adds anything to the piece or not.

And then Mr. Colberg links today to this series from Chris Valites, which is visually very complete, and restores a sense of both magic and intimacy to the nude by mostly obscuring them and creating visual allusions to showers. The whole collection feels very intimate, stark, and elegant all at once.

Chris, my hat is off to you. Very solid work. Bravo.

A Dearth of Updates

Hey everyone, just a quick post to say I’m sorry for the lack of art posts and such this month. This NaNoWriMo thing is tougher than I’d expected. At least it’s getting me back into writing, as I’d hoped, so maybe soon(ish) I’ll finish my last assassins story. Give me an excuse to get back into case binding, I love binding hardbacks.

Anyway, I’ll try and get some stuff done, but no promises. And it’ll probably be December before there’s more progress on Sparkle. The new, better, and useful ever Grimey site is still in the plans, too. Somewhere…

I’ll get some art posts up on the Exchange side of things tonight. There’s some stuff needs shown and talked about, finally. Woot woot. See you all later.

NaNoWriMo Day 10

Official count: 15,546. Getting caught up. I need to be at 18,700 or so tomorrow to be right on task, which might not quite happen but I can try.
Again, view it online here: http://docs.google.com/View?id=dfctw9x_16qj98bg8g

Now, for a celebratory finger of the amazing Laphroaig 15 year (thank you, Audrey!), a shower, and bed. More tomorrow.

NaNoWriMo Day 9, Late

Still a bit behind from the weekend, but getting caught up quickly. At a little over 13,000 right now, and have a few more plot developments in mind for the ongoing bits:

NaNoWriMo: Day 2

Calling it quits for the night so I can pick up a little extra sleep. Added about 2,400 words tonight for an official NaNoWriMo calculated word count of  3,246, which isn’t too shy of the 3,400 I needed to be on target. I should have myself caught up by the end of tomorrow and then maybe I can start getting a bit ahead.

Also, I’m getting close to having all the expositionary stuff out of the way, so I think soon it can start settling down into the main plots, which should increase my satisfaction and frustration both in equal parts. Whee! Fun!
